Kuss Quartet

Saturday 14th October 2017, 7:30pm

Pre-concert talk with the artists at 6:30pm

Venue: John Innes Centre

  • Programme:
  • Beethoven: Quartet in D, Op.18 No.3
  • György Kurtág: Officium Breve
  • Schubert: Quartet in G, D.887

The Berlin-based Kuss Quartet plays Beethoven's youthfully exuberant Quartet Op.18 No.3, and the last and largest of Schubert's string quartets. Schubert's ‘heavenly length’, as Schumann called it, affords a strong contrast to the aphoristic style of György Kurtág, who has described his ‘Officium Breve’ as a ‘mini-Requiem to departed friends and colleagues’
